Dose Captain does not sell personal information, use medication information for third-party advertising, or claim that a recorded check-in proves medication was swallowed.
Information stored on your device
Dose Captain may store medication or plan names, instructions, schedules, user-entered amounts and units, photos and bottle colors, check-in events, vial inventory, injection sites, journals, body metrics, household labels, reminders, accessibility settings, and offline events waiting to sync.
Detailed journals, medication and progress photos, HealthKit information, detailed inventory, and peptide or reconstitution records remain local by default. A future feature will not share those categories without clearly identifying the sharing and asking for permission.
Optional Family Alerts information
If you create an account or enable Family Alerts, Dose Captain may process account identifiers; profile labels; household roles; consent, authorization, invite, and revocation records; selected locked plans and schedules; allowed actions; occurrences and confirmations; alert rules and attempts; device installation and push-token information; last-sync status; app version; and security or audit metadata.
Family check-in pushes are privacy-minimized and do not include a medication name or dose. A push may be delayed or fail and does not prove delivery or that anyone read it.
Why information is processed
Information is used to provide reminders, check-ins, locked plans, household permissions, status views, family alerts, offline reconciliation, duplicate-event protection, account controls, purchase entitlement, support, and security audit history. Dose Captain does not use this information to prescribe, recommend, optimize, or automatically change a medication plan.
Service providers
Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, device notification permissions, HealthKit permissions when used, and Apple Push Notification service. Supabase provides hosted authentication and backend services for optional Family Alerts. These providers process information under their terms and the applicable production agreements.
Household sharing and consent
Family status is shared only within a relationship a user creates, accepts, or is authorized to manage. A caregiver/admin may manage selected locked plans and view shared status. A dependent/patient may view assigned plans and use allowed check-in actions. A viewer/family member has read-only access to the status granted to them.
Invitations expire and are intended for one-time use. Relationships can be revoked, after which remote access is denied. Parents, guardians, and other authorized representatives are responsible for having the authority required to set up sharing for a child or dependent. A capable adult should accept their own sharing relationship.
HealthKit, photos, and contacts
HealthKit access is optional and controlled through Apple’s permission screen. Dose Captain does not sell HealthKit data or use it for advertising. Medication, label, and progress photos remain local by default. The app accesses a contact only after the user opens Apple’s contact picker; the selected display name can help address an invitation, but the address book and raw contact details are not uploaded to Family Alerts.
Security and retention
Dose Captain uses platform security, authenticated requests, household permissions, server-side access controls, and append-only audit records. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Cloud records are retained while needed to provide the account, household, audit, security, purchase, and legal functions described here. Revocation removes access but may not immediately erase security, transaction, or audit records that must be retained.
Your choices
- Use core local medication reminders without creating a Family Alerts account.
- Decline contacts, photos, HealthKit, or notification permission and use available manual alternatives.
- Review or erase local records in Settings, Data Controls.
- Review or revoke household relationships and sign out devices in Family Alerts.
- Initiate deletion of an account and associated cloud data from inside the app.
Deleting the app removes its local data subject to iOS and Apple-controlled backups, but does not by itself delete an optional cloud account. See Delete a Dose Captain account.
Children and dependents
Dose Captain is not directed to children for independent account creation. A parent, guardian, or otherwise authorized caregiver is responsible for setup and consent when a person cannot provide consent themselves. The app must not be used to bypass a person’s rights or applicable consent requirements.
Medical and emergency boundary
Dose Captain is a tracking and reminder tool. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, recommend a dose, verify medication safety, prove ingestion, or replace a licensed clinician, pharmacist, medication label, direct human check-in, or emergency service.
